Meet our Preschool/PreK/PE Teacher
I am Chelsea Kuchta. I grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska and graduated from Norfolk High School in 2007. After high school, I attended Wayne State College for a year before transferring to Northeast Community College. I graduated from Northeast in 2010 with a degree in ag banking. As part of that program, I completed my internship at Security National Bank in Osmond, which makes returning to Osmond in a completely different role pretty special. In December 2023, I decided to go back to school to pursue my passion for education. I returned to WSC to earn my elementary education degree. I completed my student teaching experience during the spring of 2026 at Woodland Park Elementary in Norfolk, which was especially meaningful because I attended elementary school there myself. I graduated from WSC in May 2026 with honors. This will be my first official year as a classroom teacher and I am incredibly excited! Although this is my first year teaching, I have had several experiences that have prepared me for this role. I previously worked as a paraeducator at Pierce Public Schools and have been a substitute teacher for Randolph Public Schools. I have also spent the last 13 years running Studio 103 Dance Studio in Randolph, which has given me many years of experience working with children, families and our community. My husband Josh and I have been married for 16 years. We have four children: Lilly, 17, a senior this year. Payten, 15, is a sophomore. Sophie, 12, is in seventh grade. Oliver, 6, first grade. All four of our children attend Randolph Public Schools. We live on our family farm northeast of Randolph, where my husband farms. I enjoy coaching youth softball, playing softball myself, running, spending time with family and friends and of course being involved with dance. As a family, we love camping and fishing with my parents. Sometimes though our favorite thing to do is simply spend time together. With four kids, there is always something going on and we enjoy being involved in their activities and watching them grow. However, I think my favorite thing to do is attending and chasing around my four kids at all their sporting events and activities.
Meet our 1st Grade Teacher
I am Mia Asch0ff and I grew up in Hay Springs and graduated from Hay Springs High School. I attended Wayne State College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an endorsement in reading and writing. This is my first year of teaching and I am excited to begin my career at St. Mary’s School! As a first-year teacher, this is my first teaching position. I decided to apply to St. Mary’s School because I felt God calling me to a classroom where I could help students grow not only academically, but also as individuals and in their faith. Being able to support children in both their education and their spiritual development is something that is very meaningful to me. As a first-year teacher, my goal is to learn from the wonderful traditions and practices already in place while building positive relationships with my students, their families and the school community. I look forward to growing as an educator and contributing in meaningful ways as I gain experience. I am married to my husband, Robert Aschoff. We are also excited to be expecting our first baby, who is due at the end of February 2027. I will be living just outside of Osmond. My husband and I enjoy spending time with our extended families and siblings. Family is very important to us and we love making memories together. My first impression of Osmond is that it is a very welcoming, caring and faith-filled community. I already feel so supported and I am grateful to become part of it.
Meet our 2nd and 3rd Grade Teacher
I am Rebecca Geneski, the St. Mary’s 3rd and 4th grade and art teacher. I am so blessed to work at this Catholic School which allows me to spend time with Jesus and students. We all grow in our faith together. My encouraging husband works for LG Pumping. Our six greatest blessings are our children who are Gavin, Noah, Sunny, Gwenny, Heidi & Gus. We love spending our time together as a family and being in nature as much as we can. I always look forward to each school year at St. Mary’s with its amazing students, supportive families, and wonderful staff.
Meet our 5th and 6th Teacher, 5th-8th Math & Science, Preschool-8th Music
My name is Makenzie Vargas Toledo. I was born and raised in Osmond, NE and graduated from Osmond Community School! After graduation, I attended Northeast Community College to receive my Associates degree, then continued my education with a Bachelor’s degree at Wayne State College. I am currently in my 3rd year of teaching at St. Mary’s Catholic School. I applied to St. Mary’s because of the faith and location of the school being in my hometown. I have grown to love and appreciate the Catholic connection to the school, as well as the staff and students here. I hope to continue brightening the minds of young students and allow myself to grown in the Catholic faith as I teach.
I currently live in Osmond with my mother, Amie Aschoff and step-dad, Jerel Aschoff. I enjoy reading and cooking at home. I especially love to make homecooked meals and desserts for others to enjoy. I am the youngest child of four children with two brothers (Tanner and Michael) as well as my sister (Shaylee). I take great joy in spending time with my mom, Grandpa Leon (Bartz) and my sister, Shaylee Vargas as we cruise around local towns and explore. During the summers, I get to enjoy my time off and take care of my niece, Braelynn (5), and nephew, Jackson (6). I enjoy spending any time I can with family and friends, as the joy and happiness we have for one another is the greatest gift.
Meet our 7th/8th/5th-8th Social Studies/ELA Teacher
Hi, I am Denise Schmit.
I am so proud to be a member of St. Mary’s Church in Osmond, Nebraska. My husband and I have lived here since we got married. We have three sons: David(Raelynn), Dominic, and Dante (Morgan). We also have two beautiful grandchildren, Kyra and Aceyn, and another on the way before Christmas.
I began my training as an educator at Wayne State College. I graduated Summa cum laude with my bachelor degree and took my first teaching job at St. Mary’s in Osmond where I taught 3 years. I enjoyed the wonderful lifelong relationships I formed there.
I then took a position at Osmond Community School in fifth grade and later worked in anywhere from fourth to seventh grade. I received my masters degree in education with distinction. I was part of the school’s MTSS leadership team, the student assistance team, and school improvement. I taught there 32 years before retiring. I’ve gotten to do some intervention work and subbing there since I retired and consider it like a family.
After retirement, I took on the position of Teammates coordinator for our local program. I love seeing the interactions that happen in the matches. I also took a position with Wayne State College as a student teacher supervisor. I really enjoy staying part of education and helping future educators.
In free time, I like reading, traveling, watching historical documentaries, and being with family.
I am looking forward to getting to spend a semester teaching in the seventh and eighth grade where my teaching story began. I’ll be doing ELA for 5-8 and social studies for 5-8. I am certainly excited about the idea of being able to teach with a Christian perspective.
Meet our Para/Technology
My name is Rhonda Meier. I was born in Osmond, Nebraska, but grew up in Wyoming. After graduating from high school, I returned to Nebraska to be closer to my extended family, spread my wings and see where life would take me. I met and married my husband, Travis, and we’ve called Randolph home for over 20 years. We are blessed with our daughter, Brooke, who is currently attending college for Pre-Rad Tech. Travis and I are still trying to adjust to life as empty nesters and are pretty sure someone is still eating all the snacks and the dirty dishes still keep pilling up!
At St. Mary’s, I wear many hats! I am a para, technology helper, librarian, problem solver, and all-around jack-of-all-trades! Some days I’m helping in the classrooms, fixing technology mysteries, checking in and out books, or answering the ever-popular question, “Can you help me with this?”
No two days are ever the same and that’s what makes working at school so much fun! I love being part of the St. Mary’s family and blessed to work with such wonderful students, staff, and families!

My name is Cindy Petersen. I grew up in Ewing and graduated from Ewing Public Schools. I went on to attend Wayne State College, where I earned my degree in education. This is my fourth year of teaching! Before becoming a full-time teacher, I spent time substitute teaching. I began my full-time teaching career at St. Rose in Crofton, where I taught third grade. I am excited to be at St. Mary’s! It is close to home and I love the tight-knit community that comes with small towns and small Catholic schools. I am looking forward to getting to know the students, families and community and making this a great year together! I am married to my husband, AJ, and we have three children: Braxton, Reagen and Marian. As a family, we enjoy spending time outside, playing sports, boating and camping. We live just outside of Wausa and I am excited to be part of the St. Mary’s community!
Meet our Priest
My name is Fr. Kevin Vogel. I was ordained in 2011. I love being a priest out in the rural part of the Archdiocese since I grew up on a farm between Howells and Clarkson. My parents Kenneth and Carol are still parishioners of Ss. Peter and Paul parish in Howells, where I attended Howells Community Catholic Grade School and Howells Public High School. I have three sisters and one brother: Therese (Kent) Hoffart of Hartington, Rita (Ben) Pehl (Sophia, Luke, Leo) of Terry, MT, Rachel of Omaha and Adam of Overland Park, KS. While the Catholic faith was always an important part of our family practice, my initial interests lay first in science, in particular, astronomy and physics. I graduated from UNK with a physics major and math minor, but it was also during this time that I began to become more interested in learning about our Catholic faith. Upon graduation from college, I felt that God might be calling me to the priesthood, but as a scientist, I needed to go to the seminary in order to test the hypothesis. My initial hypothesis was that I was not being called, but after two years at Conception Seminary College and four years at Kenrick Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, I found that I could not see myself doing anything else but follow God’s call for me. I was first assigned at St. Columbkille, Papillion. In 2016, I was asked to be pastor at St. Boniface, Elgin and St. Bonaventure, Raeville. In 2019, following a previous round of pastoral planning, I became associate pastor of the six-parish family (Petersburg, Raeville, Elgin, Clearwater, Ewing, Rural St. John). Consistent throughout my six years, was teaching theology (and sometimes physics) at Pope John Central Catholic. I truly enjoy teaching our faith, whether it is in the context of school or adult formation. Celebrating the Eucharist is also great privilege and joy. For fun, I enjoy learning to sing sacred music, hiking and visiting cemeteries and churches. I also like to edit together videos, those related to our faith (homilies, formation talks, prayer, sacred music) or fun ones related to my hobbies.
Meet our Associate Pastor
My name is Fr. William Targy. I grew up in Bellevue, attending St. Mary’s Parish and I graduated from Gross Catholic High School in 2004. Before I entered seminary, I studied at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and went on to work in both campus ministry (as a FOCUS missionary) and parish ministry (as a youth and young adult minister). I entered seminary in 2018 at Kenrick-Glennon in St. Louis and I’m so grateful for the path God has called me to as a priest. I am 1 of 5 kids in my family (I have four sisters). Two currently reside in Omaha and two are in the Black Hills in South Dakota. I have 5 nephews and 1 niece. I enjoy watching sports, especially Husker football and Creighton basketball. I also enjoy some outdoor activities (hiking and biking) as well as reading (mostly sci-fi/fantasy novels)and watching movies. I am very much looking forward to serving you and journeying with you as a priest. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for our faith communities.

“Hi: My name is Mary Hoesing. I grew up on a farm near St. James, the youngest of 9 children. I attended Bow Valley , St. Helena and then Cedar Catholic Schools in Hartington. After high school, I went off to Sioux Falls and got a cosmetology degree. I married Jeff Hoesing and moved to Clearwater for 23 years, then to Mullen for 7 years and then back to our familiar area of Northeast NE, near Randolph. Jeff and I have 5 awesome children; 3 boys and 2 girls and 7 grandchildren. I love to cook, garden, read, woodwork with my husband and spend anytime I can get with my children and grandchildren.”
